  I've been to a lot of game stores in the Toledo area, and Checkmate is the absolute best for atmosphere and employee helpfulness. Everyone working there was chill, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without it feeling like they were trying to sell me something. Selection and prices were good, too, especially for M:TG singles.

  Visiting Toledo this weekend, I wanted to check out the Local Game Stores. As an LGS owner myself in a different part of the country. It's always nice to see what people are doing in other parts of our industry. Upon entering, me and my girlfriend were quickly welcomed and asked if we needed any assistance. Always a plus. They have a great selection of sealed TCG products in all different price ranges. The variety is a nice sight to see as both a player and collector.   My favorite game store! I have been a customer for a little over ten years. Unlike some others, as a customer you are always welcomed and it is a chill environment. They have multiple kinds of tournaments like Pokémon, Magic, and HeroClix with more relaxed rules, so that you don’t have to have the latest things and can play older sets that you have. The staff is polite and helpful, and I never get the uncomfortable feeling of someone looking over my shoulder while I am trying to look at merchandise. It is a great comfortable place that welcomes any and all.

  I walked in and got greeted by everyone that was working there. They have a wide variety of tabletop gaming needs. I was disappointed that they didn’t have what I was looking for but the worker went to the back and found an extra booster box. I was very grateful that they had it and very grateful that I didn’t have to stop at other places on our long car trip. They definitely earned 5⭐️ and many more to come. 10/10 worth the stop!

  I went here for a sealed Magic The Gathering event and was the only one who showed up. As disappointed as I was it does not change the fact that this is a really cool store deserving every 5 star review they have. Checkmate Games and Hobbies has all the major tcg as well at a vast collection of DnD material.
